Two local school districts again have been recognized for their support of music education and commitment to making music accessible for students. Dubuque Community Schools and Platteville School District are among 935 districts honored as 2025 Best Communities for Music Education by the NAMM Foundation, a nonprofit supported in part by National Association of Music Merchants. Factors considered for the award include music education participation rates, music and/or fine arts graduation requirements, teacher qualifications, standards for assessing music education, music facilities and budget. The NAMM Foundation announcement states that Dubuque has received the award a total of nine times and Platteville has received it 10 times.
