A Dubuque man has been sentenced to two years in prison after police said he displayed a knife and strangled a woman during a domestic assault. 27-year-old Stanislaus J. Charlery recently received the sentence from in Iowa District Court of Dubuque County after pleading guilty to domestic assault while displaying or using a weapon. The charge stems from an incident on Jan. 31 when Charlery hit a woman multiple times, pulled a lock of hair out of her head, pushed her into another room and pinned her in a corner with a knife before strangling her.
