A Grant County man has been sentenced to nine months in jail after authorities said he led law enforcement on a pursuit while operating a tractor pulling a disc plow. 48-year-old Chad Klein of Cassville recently received the sentence from Grant County Circuit Judge Craig Day after being found guilty of resisting/failing to stop and resisting or obstructing an officer during a jury trial. After serving six months in jail, Klein’s final three months in jail will include the ability to leave the facility for work, school or other approved purposes. The charge stems from an incident last June 10, when Grant County Sheriff’s Department deputies attempted to stop Klein on his tractor and Klein led deputies on a five-mile pursuit before stopping at a farm in Glen Haven Township. Klein then attempted to run from deputies before being taken into custody. The jury found Klein not guilty of disorderly conduct.
