Authorities are continuing the search for a missing boater after a boating accident on the Mississippi River near Carroll County on Saturday, May 31. According to the Carroll County Emergency Management, the incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. when two men were involved in a boating accident. One of the men was able to make it safely to shore, while the other, a male over the age of 60, went underwater and has not been seen since. The search resumed Monday morning with boats launching from the Iowa side of the river and additional boats scheduled to launch from Marquette Park in Savanna at 10:00 a.m. The missing man’s family has been notified and is aware of the ongoing search. Multiple agencies are assisting in the search efforts, including the Illinois and Iowa Departments of Natural Resources, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and several city and county agencies. Authorities are urging boaters and the public to stay clear of the area to allow search teams to work safely and efficiently.
