Three people were arrested for distribution of methamphetamine following a series of traffic stops and search warrants in Crawford and Clayton County earlier this year. On February 28, 28-year-old Derek White was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession with Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver (>50g), with enhancers of Party to a Crime and Conspiracy to Commit. This after he was transported to Crossing Rivers Health for hiding meth in a body cavity during a traffic stop. Following the traffic stop, police executed a search warrant in the 1000 block of S. 10th St in Prairie du Chien where THC, digital scales, and other countless items of drug paraphernalia were located, along with numerous plastic baggies of methamphetamine. A total of 103.52 grams of methamphetamine was seized from this residence. Information was obtained that a larger supplier of methamphetamine was planning on delivering more methamphetamine to Prairie du Chien. Later that day, the Prairie du Chien Police Department, with the assistance of the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office, Crawford County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol, conducted a high-risk traffic stop On Highway 35 in Ferryville. The vehicle was searched where law enforcement seized another 252 grams of methamphetamine. 44-year-old Eugene Spears of La Crosse was arrested on charges of Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver (>50g). This has been an ongoing investigation and other users and local methamphetamine suppliers have been identified. Further arrests may occur. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) along with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office also assisted the Prairie du Chien Police Department with this investigation.
