During a recent appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, best-selling author Taylor Jenkins Reid revealed that her new project is a jukebox musical based around the music of The Chicks. “We’re taking the story of ‘Goodbye, Earl,’ and we are making that a jukebox musical with all the discography of The Chicks,” said the 41-year-old Jenkins, who admits that the idea came to her while driving. The author shared that she reached out to a friend in Broadway to help develop the concept, while also assuring Clarkson that one of her favorite songs, “Cowboy Take Me Away,” would indeed be included in the musical. Reid released her new book, Atmosphere, on June 3, and has written nine books total, including Daisy Jones & the Six, which was turned into a hit TV show starring Elvis and Priscilla Presley’s granddaughter, Riley Keough, and Carrie Soto Is Back, which is being executive-produced by Serena Williams for Netflix.
