The current Black Hawk Bridge will stay open through the summer, according to a release Tuesday from the Iowa Department of Transportation. Officials closed the current bridge May 17 after sensors detected unsafe movement. The bridge opened back up to traffic in early June, and officials at the time said the bridge would likely close again after the Fourth of July. The latest announcement now says the bridge will stay open through the summer. Per the release, DOT crews will continue to monitor the current bridge’s safety.
