Illinois Department of Natural Resources officials have issued a reminder of reports of bear activity in Jo Daviess and Carroll counties. A press release states that a black bear has been observed by multiple landowners during the past several weeks in the vicinity of Mississippi Palisades State Park and near residences south and east of Galena. The release encourages residents throughout the two counties to avoid direct encounters with the bear and to check their property for food sources that could attract the bear, such as bird feeders, barbeque grills, garbage cans and dog food.
