Senator Tammy Baldwin introduced the Farmers First Act Monday, legislation designed to expand mental health care access for farmers and agricultural workers who face significantly higher rates of suicide and mental health challenges. The bipartisan bill, co-introduced with Senator Joni Ernst, would reauthorize and increase funding for the Farm and Ranch Stress Assistance Network to $15 million per year for fiscal years 2026 through 2030. If approved, the increased funding will support expansion of crisis lines, training programs for new employees, and support groups specifically tailored to agricultural communities.
