The body of 22-year-old Viterbo University graduate student Eliotte Heinz has been found, ending a three-day search that mobilized police, volunteers and the La Crosse community. The Houston County Sheriff’s Department found Heinz’s body in the Mississippi River Wednesday near Brownsville, Minnesota. Officials are awaiting autopsy results for a cause of death. Houston County said a 911 call came in around 10:15 a.m. from a fisherman saying they had found the body in the river just south of the Lawrence Lake Marina. The body was recovered and transported by the La Crosse Dive Team and Medical Examiner. Heinz was last seen walking southbound on the 500 block of Front Street South at approximately 3:22 a.m. Sunday. Family members said she was also seen at Bronco’s Bar at 2:30 a.m. and was on her way home when she went missing.
