A Med-Flight took one person with serious injuries to a hospital after a crash Thursday morning near Fennimore. According to a press release from the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, on Thursday just before 7 AM law enforcement responded to a two-vehicle crash with entrapment on County Highway K near Hilltop Road in Mt. Ida Township 46-year-old Shawn Leffler of Woodman was driving a car southbound on County Highway K when he crossed the center of the road, entered the northbound lane and collided with a service truck being driven by a 49-year-old Joseph Freed of Platteville. Leffler drove off the road and stopped in a ditch, Freed stopped on the road. Leffler was not wearing a seatbelt and was trapped in his car. The Fennimore Fire Department helped get him out, and EMS officials took him to a hospital for serious injuries. A Med-Flight later took him to University Hospital. Freed was wearing a seatbelt and was not hurt. Leffler will be cited for allegedly operating left of center and not wearing a seatbelt. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
