A man recently was sentenced to two years of probation after police said he stabbed a Dubuque man. 27-year-old Alex J. Marvel of Galena, received the sentence from Judge Robert Richter in Iowa District Court of Dubuque County after pleading guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon. The charge stems from an incident in March 2023 in which court documents state that Marvel stabbed a man who was trying to break up a fight between Marvel and another person. Marvel originally also was charged with willful injury causing bodily injury and going armed with intent, according to court documents. Those charges were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
