Lukas Nelson, the son of Willie Nelson, has undergone a significant life change in recent years. He has given up drinking and smoking marijuana, got in shape, and even earned his pilot’s license. However, Nelson stops short of calling himself “sober” completely, as he still partakes in mushrooms occasionally. Nelson opened up about this juxtaposition on country podcast Nashville Now. “My dad respects individuality. He respect being yourself. He and I both now don’t smoke weed. I don’t think it mattered to him either way,” he said. “When I was smoking I’d smoke six, seven joints a day. I was so into weed.” Additionally, Nelson revealed that he has put his longtime band, Promise of the Real, on hiatus to focus on his own music. The group had previously backed Neil Young on tour, and Nelson felt the band had become more associated with Young than his own work. (Rolling Stone)
