A project that was going to close Highway 76 near Marquette for a month and a half has been postponed. The Iowa Department of Transportation said Thursday they will postpone work along Highway 76 between Marquette and McGregor. The closure was originally scheduled for after Labor Day through mid-October. The change comes after residents, business owners, and community leaders expressed concern about the timing of the project around peak fall leaf tourism season. The city of McGregor said city officials are thankful to DOT officials and state representatives for listening to public feedback and “responding thoughtfully to the community’s concerns.” There’s no information about when the project will be completed.
