According to actor Ian McKellen, the upcoming Lord Of The Rings film The Hunt For Gollum will feature some familiar faces from the beloved fantasy franchise. During a panel at the For Love of Fantasy event in London, McKellen, who played Gandalf in the LOTR and Hobbit trilogies, revealed that both Gandalf and Frodo will appear in the new movie. “I’ll tell you two secrets about the casting: there’s a character in the movie called Frodo, and there’s another character called Gandalf,” McKellen said, though he did not confirm if he or Elijah Wood would be reprising their respective roles. The film, directed by Andy Serkis, who played Gollum in the original movies, is set for release in December 2027 after previously being slated for 2026. It is being produced by original LOTR trilogy director Peter Jackson and his partners Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens. (Variety)
