Attorneys for the father of the Abundant Life Christian School shooter moved Monday to have the complaint against him dismissed. In a brief filed in Dane County, attorneys for 43-year-old Jeffrey Rupnow claim the theory of liability that prosecutors are using to tie him to the deadly shooting doesn’t stand up to traditional review and violates his Second Amendment rights. Additionally, Rupnow’s attorneys claim the complaint “omits critical material facts” and “includes false and/or misleading facts.” Rupnow is charged with two counts of intentionally giving a dangerous weapon to a person under 18 and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a child. Rupnow’s 15-year-old daughter opened fire at the Abundant Life Christian School in Madison on Dec. 16, 2024, killing two people and hurting six more before dying by suicide.
