The Band Together Texas benefit concert held on Sunday (August 17) in Austin, organized by Miranda Lambert and Parker McCollum, raised over $8.5 million to support recovery efforts from the recent devastating Central Texas floods that claimed 137 lives. The star-studded event featured performances by headliners Lambert and McCollum, along with special guests Cody Johnson, Lyle Lovett, Ronnie Dunn, Ryan Bingham, Lukas Nelson, and more, as well as a surprise appearance by Jason Aldean, who performed at the Moody Center the night before and donated his stage and production crew for the event. The night featured original hits, choice covers, and special collaborations, closing with a group singalong on the Willie Nelson classic, “On the Road Again.” There were also heartfelt tributes to victims and first responders, and appearances by famous Texan actors and athletes including Matthew McConaughey and Dennis Quaid. “Thank you Austin, Texas for showing up tonight,” Lambert said. “Thank you, everybody, for tuning in and showing up for us. We are banding together as Texans tonight.” (Billboard)
