A Wisconsin man soon will appear in person in an Iowa County Court where he’s charged with killing a woman and driving away with her body in a stolen car, despite concerns that the 23-year-old isn’t competent. Early July 16, Gavin Thompson fled Nebraska Sate Troppers on Interstate 80, then crashed and fled from the scene, leaving troopers to find the body of 67-year-old Dorinda Segebrecht of Dodgeville in the backseat. Thompson was arrested about four hours later walking along the highway. He is charged in Wisconsin with first-degree intentional homicide, armed burglary, operating a motor vehicle without an owner’s consent and hiding a corpse. Lancaster County District Judge Lori Maret appointed Deputy Public Defender Doug Kerns as Thompson’s lawyer. Thompson has a bond hearing scheduled at 2 PM Friday.
