Health officials in Grant County say COVID-19 is spreading – not just in a geographical way, but also spreading among more diverse age groups. A report from health department director Jeff Kindrai shows that over the past two weeks, 28-percent of new cases had a Platteville address. That is down significantly from the two weeks prior – when nearly two-thirds of cases were from Platteville. Also, during the final two weeks in September, roughly 70-percent of new COVID-19 cases were people under the age of 30. That’s now been cut in half for the first part of this month – with 35-percent of new cases under age 30. About 45-percent of new cases during the start of October are those age 50 and older. Kindrai’s report also notes that there are more confirmed cases among those over age 60 than there are in the 18 to 29 age range.
