A small plane crashed near Highway 61 in the Otter Creek area in Jackson County on Friday. According to a press release from the Jackson County Sheriff’s, the crash happened when a pilot tried to make an emergency landing after reporting mechanical issues with the plane. Deputies found the privately-owned Cessna plane in a field located on 216th Avenue near Bellevue-Cascade Road. The pilot had exited the plane and was assessed for minor injuries, but did not need further medical care. There were no passengers onboard the plane at the time of the crash. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident.
