The Green County Sheriff’s Department is down an employee after an investigation revealed illegal activity. According to a press release by Sheriff Cody Kanable, on Thursday, Green County Deputies were alerted to contraband being brought into the Green County Jail and delivered to an inmate in a housing unit. During the investigation it was identified that a deputy was responsible for delivering the items of contraband to inmates on multiple occasions. The items being smuggled was coffee, which was concealed in property being dropped off for an inmate. As a result of the investigation, 39-year-old Dustin J. Andrews of Monroe, was arrested for Delivering Articles to an Inmate and Misconduct in a Public Office, both Class I Felony. Kanable terminated Andrews’ employment and filed the revocation of oath with the Clerk of Circuit Court. Andrews had been employed with the Sheriff’s Office since October 2024. Andrews was being held in custody pending his initial court appearance.
