Saturday morning, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Hwy 18 and CTY F, in Fennimore Township. 41-year-old John Haas of Potosi, was driving north on CTY F in Fennimore, as he approached the intersection with Hwy 18. Haas failed to stop at the stop sign on CTY F at Hwy 18, and continued into the intersection. At the same time, 28-year-old Kevin Meegan of Poplar Grove IL., was driving west on Hwy 18. Meegan’s vehicle struck the passenger side of Haas’ causing heavy damage to both vehicles as they came to rest in the north ditch. Fennimore EMS treated both parties at the scene and Meegan was transported to the Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster for treatment of his injuries. Haas was taken by private vehicle to a care provider. Heavy fog is believed to be a contributing factor in this crash. Both trucks had to be removed from the scene. Both drivers were wearing their seat belts, and Mr. Haas was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign.
