Late Wednesday morning the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office was advised of an image circulating on social media suggesting a possible threat related to West Carroll High School in Illinois. West Carroll schools were immediately placed into “secure” mode. Officers were present at both school locations during the investigation to determine the validity of the threat. It was determined that there was no credible threat to students, staff, or the community. The secure mode was lifted, and normal school operations resumed, with dismissal occurring at the regular time. The investigation into the origin of the social media image remains ongoing. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Savanna Police Department and the Mt. Carroll Police Department.
