A day after the Mineral Point school board voted to move all instruction to a virtual format – and suspend high school athletics for the next two weeks – students took to the streets. About 50 students marched thru downtown Mineral Point and around the community Tuesday afternoon – some with signs that read “We Want Football” and “Let Us Play.” The decision to go to an all-virtual format came from a recommendation by the Iowa County Health Department. That’s after health officials and administrators learned about multiple positive COVID-19 tests connected to the district. The student-athletes say that no one participating in sports has tested positive and they shouldn’t be punished for following the guidelines.
