In response to the suspension of SNAP benefits amid the ongoing government shutdown, Jimmy Kimmel has launched a food drive to aid the Los Angeles Food Bank and St. Joseph Center. The LA Food Bank works to “mobilize resources to fight hunger in our community,” while St. Joseph Center helps “working-poor families and people experiencing homelessness to achieve stability and self-sufficiency.” The show posted on Instagram, “Cutting SNAP benefits creates uncertainty for American children, seniors and families,” and invited donations at its Hollywood backlot in Los Angeles, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The drive, called “The Jimmy Kimmel Live Big, Beautiful Food Bank,” seeks items such as canned meats, nut butters, cereals, protein bars, and hygiene products. The effort follows a previous drive supporting victims of L.A. fires. (Story URL)
