Wisconsin collected more unwanted medications during fall Drug Take Back this year than any other state, the state Department of Justice said Tuesday. A total 53,498 lbs. of unwanted medications were collected in Wisconsin on Oct. 25. The next-largest total came from Texas. Drug Take Back Day happens twice a year and serves as a time to get rid of unwanted prescription drugs. Since it began in 2010, Wisconsin has collected over 1.4 million lbs. of unwanted medications through Drug Take Back. Nationwide, over 20.3 million lbs. of unwanted drugs have been collected through Drug Take Back since its inception.
