A Mount Hope teen was cited following a crash in Hickory Grove Township. Thursday morning, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office was notified of an unoccupied truck sitting in a field near the intersection of County Highway M and Bailey Road, in Hickory Grove Township. The truck had damage and appeared to have been involved in a crash. During the investigation, it was found that a 17-year-old from Mount Hope, was driving westbound on County Highway M around 1:00am when they lost control while turning due to ice on the roadway. The vehicle slid through the intersection and into a snowbank. became airborne for a short distance, before striking a fence and a large rock in the ditch and coming to rest in a field. The teen was not injured, but failed to notify law enforcement of the crash. The truck sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene. The teen was cited for Failure of Operator to Notify Police of an Accident and Probationary Licensee Operating a Vehicle between Midnight and 5am.
