A 41-year-old man is behind bars after the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office said he tested 21 times over the legal alcohol limit. Sheriff’s deputies responded to the area of Highway 10 and County Road A in Waupaca at around 6:09 p.m. after receiving reports of a man swerving his vehicle, driving at varying speeds, and nearly crashing into a guardrail. Upon pulling him over, deputies detected a strong odor of alcohol and observed other signs of intoxication. The man was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, second offense, operating after revocation, and failure to install an ignition interlock device. Due to the driver being .02 restricted from his previous OWI arrest, he was more than 21 times the legal limit. He was admitted to a hospital for medical care, where a preliminary breath test indicated an alcohol concentration of .427.
