Southwestern advances to WIAA Div. 4 Softball Championship

Katie Fritz had three hits and drove in five runs as Southwestern defeated Cochrane-Fountain City in the WIAA Division Four softball semifinals at Goodman Diamond Friday.

Southwestern tied a Division Four record by scoring nine runs in the third inning.

The Wildcats followed that with six more runs in the fourth.

Southwestern is making its first trip to state and will have a chance at its first state title when the Wildcats face Thorp in the championship game Saturday at approximately 10 am at Goodman Diamond.

In Division Three, Poynette’s season ended in a 10-0 loss to Grantsburg in five innings.

The Pumas ended the season with 23-7 record.
