High water from the large amount of rain has closed a number of roads in Southwest Wisconsin. According to Grant County Emergency Management Director Steve Braun, County Highway O in Grant County is closed. Grant County secondary roads closed include Forest, Big Platte, Oak and Dutch Hollow. Thunderstorms caused some damage in Grant County. Braun says one farm on College Farm Road near Highway 151 lost the roof off of a barn and several outbuildings. The National Weather Service says the damage occurred around 8 p.m. Braun said similar damage was reported in the Belmont area.
The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department listed 11 local roads as closed by high water Wednesday morning, including Lafayette County Highway O, north of Lafayette County G; Ferndale Road; Oak Park Road between Rock and Burr Oak roads; Lafayette County K between Ames Road and Lafayette County Highways R and K; Lafayette County Highway K outside Gratiot; Roller Coaster Road; County Highway C west of Calamine; Larse Road; Wayne Center Road; Andrews Road and the Cheese Country Trail.
Galena reported 2.16 inches of rain.
Muscoda received 4.66 inches of rain.
Other area rainfall totals included 3.5 inches at Platteville, 3.29 at the Prairie du Chien Airport and 3.28 at Boscobel.
