Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to an attempted robbery on Wednesday in Apple River, Illinois. Officials with the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Department confirmed the attempted robbery happened at Apple River State Bank and that no suspect was in custody at this time. Early reports say the suspect claimed to have a gun, but no weapon was ever displayed. No money was taken from the bank and the suspect initially fled in a vehicle, but it was later reported the person was now fleeing on foot. Authorities say the suspect is described at 6′ 3″, slender build, 40 to 50 year old, wearing blue jeans, a long black coat, and an orange stocking hat.
