About four dozen inmates, behind bars in Lancaster, will be transferred a few miles down the road this week. Sheriff Nate Dreckman says 45 inmates are going to be relocated to the new Grant County Community Services Building on Lancaster’s south-end. The county’s updated jail site was part of the facility project – which brought multiple services under one roof. Wisconsin Department of Corrections staff did a final inspection on the new 106-bed jail this week. Only a few inmates will be taken at a time while being escorted by sheriff’s deputies. Once jail staff moves into the new facility, dispatch will be the last group left.
