Continuing a tradition of providing accessible, high quality education to all students, UW-Platteville has announced its Pioneer Pledge program. The program guarantees that the cost of undergraduate, on-campus tuition and fees will be covered for new freshmen who are Pell Grant-eligible Wisconsin residents. Chancellor Dennis Shields said more than 40 percent of UWP students are 1st-generation students, and there are some families struggling with financing their education. To be eligible for the program, students must be a Wisconsin resident, submit the FAFSA and qualify as Pell eligible. Federal Pell Grants are typically awarded to students who display exceptional financial need. The program will take effect for incoming freshmen entering in fall 2020.
