Authorities in Crawford County are looking for the public’s help to find out who is illegally cutting down trees around Prairie du Chien. Police say they were called in late October after a handful of trees were cut down on St Feriole Island along Villa Louis Road. A Crawford County Crime Stoppers report indicated the trees were taken down with either a chainsaw or a hand saw. The trees were left at the scene after being cut. Another tree, cut down in the same fashion, was discovered this week. Police have said tire tracks were visible near where both sets of trees were cut down. Anyone with information should call Prairie du Chien police at 608 – 326 – 2421.
