The city of Lancaster has hired a full-time EMS service director – a new position for the community. Jeff Boughton, who recently stepped down as the fire chief in Prairie du Chien, will take on the EMS service director duties once a contract is drafted. His job will include managing the day to day operations of the ambulance service and overseeing staff of the daytime crew. Boughton’s $53-thousand dollar salary will be split up – with half of it covered by the Lancaster EMS, 30-percent by the city of Lancaster, and the remaining paid for by surrounding townships. Jackie Edge, the current Lancaster EMS chief, will continue volunteering with the organization and serving as president of the Lancaster EMS Board.
