Authorities in Grant County and the Wisconsin DNR are investigating an incident on Thanksgiving Day in which a bullet went through a residence in Mount Ida Township. 37 year old Joel Belstra of Fennimore reported that a bullet went through his residence at about 11:30am during a family get together. An investigation found that a neighbor, 30 year old Kevin Zart of Fennimore, was hunting with his son and fired 3 rounds at deer in the area, with 2 rounds fired in the direction of the Belstra residence. The direction of the shots fired were consistent with the path of the bullet that went through the residence. No one was injured. Charges will be filed against Zart for endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon.
