Although traffic has been using it for about two weeks – and the work isn’t 100-percent finished – officials in Lancaster have a ribbon cutting planned to mark the end of a road construction project. The ceremony will be Friday evening at 5:30 along West Maple Street on the Grant County Courthouse lawn. Several representatives from around the city of Lancaster will be on hand to celebrate the road’s opening. This spring and summer, reconstruction work was done downtown on the streets around the square. The project also included extensive work from the square north on Highway 61. Crews were unable to complete all of the work this year before winter set in. They’ll be back to finish the project in the spring – until then, the roads are open again to traffic as usual.
