The Madison man accused of shooting and killing a Dodgeville man this month officially faces 10 felony charges. Reports show that 20-year-old Marcus Hamilton Jr. is being held on a $250-thousand dollar cash bond. Bail was set at $1-million, but a 1st-degree intentional homicide charge Hamilton faced was reduced to a 1st-degree reckless homicide charge. He faces an additional 4 counts of attempted armed robbery, 4 counts of 1st-degree recklessly endangering safety, and a charge of felony bail jumping. Hamilton was meeting teens from Dodgeville, including 18-year-old Gunnar Holum – who drove them to Madison December 14th. The group reportedly was there to purchase marijuana from Hamilton. When Hamilton arrived, he got in the backseat, pulled out a handgun and demanded everything the teens had. According to a report, a rear passenger door was slightly ajar, and Hamilton was pushed out of the vehicle while Holum drove away. The car’s occupants reported hearing gun shots as they sped off. Then, they say Holum said he had been shot. Those involved told police they were able to pull the car over to the side of the road. Holum was pronounced dead at UW Hospital a half an hour after police were called. Also arrested was 18-year-old Brandon Hernandez. He’s been charged with harboring or aiding a felon. According to a report, Hernandez admitted to driving Hamilton to the drug deal and hearing gunfire. He drove Hamilton to a house to change clothes before dropping him off later. Hernandez is scheduled for a bond hearing Thursday. Hamilton is set to be back in court for a preliminary hearing January 2.
