A former Platteville man is dead following a two-vehicle crash on the Beltline in Madison Saturday morning. Authorities with the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office say 27-year-old Alex Abing of Waunakee, formerly of Platteville, was pronounced dead at a hospital shortly after the crash. Police say Abing was driving west on the Beltline near Old Sauk Road around 7am. His vehicle rolled during the crash and Abing had to be extricated before being transported to a Madison hospital. Reports show two other people suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash – authorities have not released their identities at this time. A stretch of the Beltline was closed for about three hours Saturday morning. The crash remains under investigation.
