Granger Smith premiered his latest official music video Thursday night (Feb. 6) for his peaceful “That’s Why I Love Dirt Roads.” Smith lost his youngest son, River, in a tragic accident at home last year. Several subtle tributes can be seen in the video.
Apart from jumping in a truck and driving to clear his mind, Smith wears a red flannel in reference to River’s favorite color. Smith also plants a tree in the middle of a barren land, with a deer approaching him as well. In the cover art for the song, fans can find his late son’s face in the mountain and “Riv” written in the river coming down the mountain.
River Kelly Smith was three years old when he passed following a tragic accident in the family’s pool at their home near Austin, Texas, last June. Smith and his wife, Amber, have since launched the River Kelly Fund. The fund accepts donations to help others in memory of their son. Check out the video below.
