Two people from rural Darlington suffered serious injuries following a rollover crash while fleeing police over the weekend. According to a report, 44-year-old John Rix and 23-year-old Emily Schmidhamer were initially taken to Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County and transferred later by Med-Flight to UW Hospital in Madison. Police say the two were at a Darlington bar around 2:20am Saturday. Rix reportedly had punched another man multiple times before leaving the scene with Schmidhamer. As authorities were attempting to pull them over, their vehicle left the roadway and rolled over in a pasture west of Darlington. Both Rix and Schmidhamer were ejected during the crash. The crash is being investigated by the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office. Darlington Police are investigating the assault that happened at the bar.
