UW-Madison will switch to virtual learning for the next two weeks as a result of rising coronavirus cases on campus. A university release said all in-person under-graduate, graduate and professional school group instruction will be put on hold from today (Thurs) until September 25th. Classes are now canceled – and will resume on Monday with remote learning. All in-person study spaces at university libraries, the Union and academic buildings will be closed during this period. According to the release, the change comes out of an abundance of caution for the students and employees. For the past two days, UW-Madison said the positive percentage of new COVID-19 tests among students and faculty has been 20% or higher. UW System President Tommy Thompson has backed the school’s changes. Thompson said – at this time – the other campuses in the UW System will continue to “operate as expected.”
