Illinois man arrested for OWI in Green County

An Illinois man was arrested Saturday morning in the Town of Spring Grove on suspicion of operating while intoxicated, the Green County Sheriff’s Office said. Deputies stopped a vehicle in the west 100 block of State Highway 81 shortly before 11 a.m. Investigators determined the 43-year-old man had damaged his vehicle after hitting a traffic barricade sign. He was not injured and was wearing a seat belt, officials said. The man was arrested for the OWI and was also cited for speeding, operating left of center, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration and reckless driving endangering safety. He was released to a responsible party and given a pending court date.
