Mineral Point issued a boil-water advisory Tuesday after its Waterworks system failed to maintain pressure. City Clerk-Treasurer Christy Skelding said the pressure loss could allow contaminants, including fecal coliform or E. coli, to enter the water distribution system. Residents should not use city-supplied water, instead they should use bottled water or boil water for at least one minute before using it for drinking, cooking, food preparation, making ice, washing dishes or personal hygiene. City officials said the advisory will remain in effect until testing confirms the water is safe and the city announces that the advisory has been lifted.
