Bortles has played in 78 games during his NFL career, starting 73 of them. Most of those appearances came with the Jacksonville Jaguars after being the third overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, playing with the Jaguars from 2014 through 2018 and serving as a backup for the Los Angeles Rams in 2019.

Even if Rodgers returns to the Packers, the team could have used another quarterback on the roster after parting ways with Tim Boyle this past offseason.
Rodgers has reportedly told some teammates he does not want to return to the team, with some reports indicating he would rather retire than play for the team again. However, former teammate John Kuhn said on the Pat McAfee Show Wednesday he thinks there’s a “decent chance” Rodgers does decide to return.
The Packers could fine Rodgers if he fails to show up for organized team activities over the summer. Before signing Bortles, the only other quarterback on the Packers roster was Jordan Love.
