2 Vehicle Crash, Plus OWI Arrest

On Friday, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a two vehicle crash on Highway 81 near Highway 61 in the construction zone of the new round-a-bout in the Township of South Lancaster around 6:40am. 23 year old Jerrett Trenkamp of Platteville, was driving his company’s work truck eastbound on Highway 81. Trenkamp was slowing to a stop in the eastbound lanes. Trenkamp had his left blinker activated as well as all of his strobing amber warning lights. Trenkamp was slowing to turn left into the construction zone. At the same time, 43 year old Joseph Marshall of Lancaster was traveling east following Trenkamp’s work truck. As Marshall approached the work truck, he performed a passing maneuver on the left lane on a double yellow no passing zone. As Trenkamp was turning left into the construction zone, the front bumper of the work truck clipped the rear quarter panel of Marshall’s truck, causing it to spin clockwise into the south ditch where it rolled one time and came to rest on its driver’s side. Trenkamp was not injured in the crash and his work truck sustained minimal damage on the front bumper. Marshall and his female passenger had minor injuries. Marshall’s vehicle had heavy damage throughout. Everyone involved in the crash was wearing their seat belts. Marshall’s female passenger was taken to Grant Regional Health Center for non-life threatening injuries. After an investigation and field sobriety tests, Marshall was arrested for operating while intoxicated, second offense, causing injury. Marshall was taken to the Grant County Jail where he is being held on a $500 cash bond. Marshall was also cited for Operating After Revocation, Operating a Motor Vehicle without Insurance, Operating a Non-Registered Vehicle, and Passing in a No Passing Zone, all with a construction zone enhancer.
