A man from Prairie du Chien was injured in a Hit and Run Incident on July 2nd. At around 3:20am, the Grant County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a hit and run that had occurred in the Village of Bagley. After an investigation, it was determined that 40 year old Zachary Walter of Prairie du Chien was entering the front passenger seat of a Town and Country van. While Walter was entering the vehicle, 18 year old Gabriel Duran of Bagley sideswiped the Town and Country van that Walter had been entering. As a result, Walter was struck on the face by the passenger door, causing injury. Duran then fled the scene. Duran was located by Grant County Deputies a few hours later at a nearby residence. Following the initial investigation Duran was taken into custody for Hit and Run Involving Injury, and Resisting or Obstructing an Officer and was taken to the Grant County Jail for booking. Walter was taken by EMS to Crossing Rivers Health in Prairie du Chien and was later transferred to Gunderson La Crosse due to his injuries. Assisting at the scene was Bagley First Responders and West Grant EMS. The case remains under investigation and further charges may occur as a result of the investigation.
