A man from Gays Mills was arrested for his 8th offense of OWI Wednesday. Around 10:45am, the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by 51 year old Sam Hatlin of Gays Mills, in Bell Center. During the stop, Crawford County Sheriff’s Office K9 Diego was utilized and alerted to the presence of one or more controlled substances within the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted, and discovered were two small containers containing methamphetamine and several items of drug paraphernalia. Hatlin was arrested and taken to the Crawford County Jail on charges of 8th offense operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of a restricted controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
