First Student To Buy Badger Bus Lines

First Student is buying Badger Bus Lines, the transportation service provider announced Tuesday. The move comes just months after First Student beat out Badger Bus Lines to become the Madison Metropolitan School District’s transportation contractor. Under a binding purchase agreement, First Student will acquire Badger Bus’ student and paratransit services in the Madison area. Badger Bus announced last month that it would lay off up to 200 workers after losing the MMSD contract. Those layoffs were set to go into effect on Aug. 18. First Student said all Badger Bus employees will now be given the chance to join First Student.
