The House of Representatives has passed the Securing Growth and Robust Leadership in American Aviation Act, which includes a Derrick Van Orden of Prairie du Chien backed amendment that will help ensure safety at Wisconsin’s rural airports. Originally introduced by Rep. Val Hoyle of Oregon, Van Orden’s cosponsored amendment requires the FAA to develop and publish safety training materials for airport ground crew workers, including supervisory employees, to help prevent accidents involving aircraft engine ingestion and jet blast hazards. The FAA Reauthorization also includes provisions that grow the aviation workforce, invest in airport infrastructure, uphold America’s gold standard in safety, encourage innovation, and enhance passenger experience for the over 850 million passengers who fly annually.
